Written by: Gracie Criger

Gracie is a student at The University of Cincinnati studying Real Estate. She is currently interning with Colliers | Columbus on the Research team. Keep reading for insight into Gracie’s intern experience.

What has been your favorite project to work on throughout your time at Colliers?

My favorite project to work on during my time at Colliers would be completing The Weekly Review each Friday. This consists of reading articles throughout the week and compiling the best three to share both internally and externally with the company. Staying on top of news and insights within the Columbus area is not only interesting but important to me, especially when working in CRE and living in Columbus. I think as a recipient of this newsletter it is helpful for those who want a quick snapshot of articles without reading 50+ a week. While completing this I have seen the importance of writing skills. The ability to know which information is worth sharing and is applicable to the company has also been an engaging part of this project.

What has been the biggest lesson you will take away from this internship?

The biggest lesson I will take away from my internship is that when completing a project, it takes more people than one may realize. It is important to have multiple viewpoints on projects and considering different opinions makes it more robust.. Being able to work well with others is highly important and valued at Colliers. I have had the privilege to work hand in hand with a team that sees the value in each task. Moving forward in my career, I am eager to work well with others. Everything worth doing is worth doing right!

What aspects of commercial real estate has this internship made you more interested in?

Brokerage is an aspect I am interested in and even more so now working at Colliers. Becoming a broker is a big decision that comes with lots of responsibility. I have been interested in brokerage because of its personable appeal and the skill set it takes. The ability to work on a team is a great life skill that I can take with me wherever I go.
